Sedges and grasses are generally wind pollinated.The White-topped Sedge evolved to attract pollinators and created a sort of flower for this purpose. I have seen little beetles on this sedge, but do not recall butterflies or bees. I looked through images of white-topped sedge on line and did not see any insects on them. Perhaps, if the insects have other choices near by, they do not visit these pseudo-flowers.
